Hello everyone, I sure hope your week has been great and amazing. Mine has been splendid, I am actually spending my week trying to learn some new things. So it’s been a week of learning and improving for me.
At the beginning of the week, I talked about self-image and how you see yourself. If you have not read that post, just quickly go here to read My first post for the week. Today, I want to talk more about self-image, self-perception and why this is very important.
Your self-image, your self-perception, how you see yourself every time you look in the mirror is very important and vital to either your success in life or your failure. Self-images are usually born out of belief systems, what you believe in, what you believe to be true or not. Belief systems or patterns are usually born either out of a wrong programming from parents, friends, peers, education, society, events in our life, and culture.
For me, at some point in my life; I judged myself based on how other people treated me. I looked at myself and judged myself based on my misfortunes and challenges. The kind of advice I received at those times did not even help. So I had a very limiting and ugly perception of my self.
The result, every time I wanted to do something; I always expected it to fail or end up awkwardly, this affected my relationships, work, and as a matter of fact; my productivity, in general, was affected.
That is what self-image can do to you.
I just could not go through life living that way. I had to come out of this struggle. So I did. If you are reading this post and you are where I used to be, there is a way out. I need you to know that you are better than you think, there is more to you. Take a look at the story of creation in Genesis chapters one, how God made everything and called it good. So it does not matter how anyone else sees you; in Gods sight, you are good, you are perfect in the eyes of God.
For me, that is most empowering and acceptable. I looked at myself and said to myself; “why must I continue to look down on myself when He who created me has not looked down on me.” That was the beginning of my turn-around. The next thing I did was that I learned how to talk positively to myself about myself and the occurrences of my life since no one else was motivating me and encouraging me.
After a while, I discovered that each time I spoke positively to myself; I felt better, it was not just the feeling, but because I felt better, I did better than I would previously when I complained and rained abusive words on myself and talked to myself about how much I was a loser.
The point here is, all that matters is how God sees you, once you can know how to see yourself the way your Creator sees you, nothing else would matter. Every great invention we see today, every success story you read today started with a seeing. You need to change your focus and your view to see clearly and rightly. Adjust your focus, adjust what you focus your mind, thoughts, and time on.
Focus on all the good stuff you can ever think of, focus on all the good memories you have. Above all, focus on Gods Word:
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” ~ Phillipians:4:8
Thank you for reading today’s blog. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments. God bless you and have a great day.
